Elders
Joe Adcock and his wife, Cindy, have two children, Aaron and Samatha. Joe is employed by Lucent Technologies and Cindy is a teacher in the Heath School System. Joe and Cindy have been a part of the Southgate Family since 1990. The Adcocks came to us from Texas. Joe works with computers and plays competitive Ping Pong.
Dick Duemmel and his wife, Shelia, have three grown children. Dick works for AEP and has served as an elder at 2 churches in Zanesville. Shelia is a teacher in our Southgate Thursday School. Dick enjoys cutting wood, restoring older houses and cooking. Dick is the "chef" for our men’s breakfasts.
Ernie Foster and his wife, Harriet, have three grown children. Ernie is retired from R.R. Donnelly. The Fosters have been a part of the Southgate Family since 1978, having moved here from Arkansas. Ernie has served the Southgate church as one of its first elders. Harriet is the coordinator for the supply room for the educational program. If it has to do with music, Ernie likes it. Ernie is the music teachers for our Thursday School. He was also a member of the Gospel quartet, Heavenward Bound, and plays the guitar and mandolin. He also enjoys and is very good at carpentry work.
Gordon Franklin and his wife, Christy, have one grown son. Gordon works for the Fairfield Mortgage Company. The Franklins have been with Southgate for 2 years and have grown into the people's heart. Christy is a teacher in our Southgate Thursday School. Gordon has also served as an elder for a church in Zanesville. His interests include games and sports.
David Hartman and his wife, Phyllis, have three grown sons. David works for Owens Corning and he and Phyllis have been a part of the Southgate Family since 1980, moving here from the Dayton area. Phyllis has been our Thursday School Director and is currently involved in an outreach ministry that involves helping families remodel and reorganize their homes. David’s interests include just about anything outdoors. He also enjoys working with computers and graphic designs and was a member of the Heavenward Bound Quartet.
David Myers and his wife, Linda, have 4 grown children. David is also our pulpit minister and has been involved in the Heath Schools as a coach of the High School Varsity Swim Team and is currently serving the community as the Chaplain for the Heath Police Department. Linda is a Certified Dental Assistant for Dr, John Wallace. The Myers’ have been with Southgate since 1972 (except for a 6 year period where he preached for the church in Ravenna, Ohio). David enjoys playing golf and spending as much time as he can with his grandchildren.
